Procrastination is something that all students, not just college students, do at times on homework. Waiting until the last minute to do some assignments may work, but an assignment like a paper for a composition class is not a time to procrastinate.
I have procrastinated plenty of times on homework assignments, even on papers. Our comp papers were a different story though. Writing a 3,000 word essay on the Sunday before it is due is not a smart idea. It would be not be an A paper in most cases. Putting together an argument and providing details with ten citations in one day would be really hard. Bravo to the people who did that and got a good grade. It will not happen often though.
Students procrastinate because they just do not want to think about homework until they absolutely have to. We just want to have fun with our friends, or play video games, or just watch television instead of do homework. Doing math problems, or figuring out what biology is, or writing a paper does not sound like any fun at all, unless you actually like doing homework, but most students don’t. If procrastinating has always worked for you then I guess keep on doing it. One day it may not turn out to be the best though. Actually doing assignments ahead of time and making sure you do a good job on it can be beneficial. I have definitely learned my lesson about procrastinating.
