Selecting a topic for a paper can be one of the most challenging parts of composing a paper. You could choose an easy topic, a challenging topic, one you got from a friend, but overall you need to choose a topic that is important to you. If you choose a topic that is not important to you than you will be uninterested and thus less likely to put in a good amount of effort and time to produce a good paper.
Do not select a topic just because you think it would impress your teacher or because or because you do not want to think about all the options you have, because you will not be happy writing or reading this paper. If you are interested in the topic you are writing about and can relate to it, you are more likely to put time and effort into it.
There are many different ways you can go about choosing a research topic for your paper but a good way to begin is to think of vague and general ideas for your paper and write them out. Then go through and decide which ones can actually relate to the course and can be composed into a formal paper. Then choose from this list the one that you are most interested in so that you will want to write about it.
If it is hard for you to pick a topic talk to your teacher, friends, or family to help you generate ideas that you can choose from. It helps to have a ton of ideas because then you are bound to find at least one you can use.
